[Photo| Courtesy]Acting Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has shut down the Presbyterian University of East Africa.Matiang'i revoked the operation license of the University on Thursday through a letter addressed to CUE chairman Chacha Nyaigotti-Chacha.The CS has directed the Commission for University Education (CUE) to start the process of winding up the university in line with the provisions of the Universities Act and university regulations.The decision follows the recommendations made by the CUE three days ago. CUE has also recommended the financial audit of Kenya Methodist University and Catholic University of Eastern Africa.In its report, the regulator highlighted outright conflicts of interest between the church and the universities.
