''My mum and my father were really struggling for ends to meet. And they were even unable to pay school fees for my siblings and myself,'' Rashid told the vetting panel.
Mr. Echesa gave a heart-rending account of how he had to struggle with poverty to the extent of doing menial jobs in Mumias.
He thanked the president for giving the ''son of a peasant'' an opportunity to ascend to high echelons of governance.
Mr. Echesa will know his fate in the coming days after a report by the vetting parliamentarians.
