Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri has said that Coalition for Reforms and Democracy leader Raila Amolo Odinga is too old to vie for Presidency, adding that he should hang his political boots ahead of the August polls.
Speaking to residents on Saturday at Kwa Mnengwa, Mwatate sub-county in Taita-Taveta County, Kiunjuri said that the former prime minister has become irrelevant in the political arena and time has come for him to consider retirement.
“He is over 70 years and hence he should retire from politics,” he said, as quoted by Nation.
The CS also said that the opposition leader is not only destructive but has retrogressive ideas hence he is no longer needed in the political field.
“This guy (Mr Odinga) is destructive and backward…he has become irrelevant until he cannot even explain his own rhetoric,” added the CS.
Kiunjuri also said that other National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principals know very well that Raila cannot beat President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto during the forthcoming general polls.
“Even his colleagues in the National Supper Alliance (Nasa) have asserted that Mr Odinga cannot beat President Uhuru Kenyatta in August polls, how do you expect him to win if his closest colleagues have disqualified his chances of winning elections?” he posed.
