The National Youth Service (NYS) projects have been re-launched in Nyali, Kisauni and Mvita constituencies in Mombasa County.
The projects are expected to benefit the youth by solving the challenge of unemployment in the county.
Speaking on Monday at the Tononoka Grounds during the official launch of the programme, Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs CS Sicily Kariuki said that so far, youth from Nyali, Kisauni and Mvita have formed 15 Saccos.
“So far youth from Mombasa have a membership of 3190 and savings of 16.5 million shillings,” said the CS.
The minister further said the projects are not political, adding that they are purely aimed at benefiting the youth and solving the employment problem.
"The president understands the problems of the youth especially on employment,” said the CS.
"You will be trained every afternoon on how to prepare business plans and conduct business,” added Kariuki.
Nyali MP Hezron Awiti and Kisauni MP Rashid Bedzimba who were present at the launch lauded the projects saying they have transformed the lives of young people in the county.
