The government is committed to ending the acute water shortage in Soin/Sigowet constituency through expediting the construction of the Sh20 billion Soin-Koru dam.
Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich said the government was committed to addressing the residents’ pleas by dispatching a high powered government delegation to supervise the implantation of the water project.
The mega water project is located on the border of Kericho and Kisumu counties.
He made the remarks at Gaborik village in Belgut constituency during the funeral service of the late Mama Joyce Tuimising, the sister-in-law to Energy Cabinet Secretary Charles Keter.
“The government is aware of the water scarcity in Soin/Sigowet constituency and we will ensure that money is channeled towards the completion of the dam,” he said.
Soin/Sigowet constituency which was curved out of Belgut and Ainamoi constituency is a hardship area among Kericho’s six constituencies.
Rotich, at the same time, asked Kenyans to maintain law and order for the sake of the economy’s growth.
“Most Kenyans were gracious enough to go to the polls after the courts ordered for a second presidential election. What remains now is for the elected leaders and president Uhuru Kenyatta’s appointees to sit down together and work to ensure that the lives of the citizens are improved even more in Jubilee’s government the second term in office,” said Rotich.
He added, “Employment opportunities for the youth is one of the foremost focus in the Jubilee four pillars. We have confidence that if we focus on the four goals, the lives of Kenyans will be transformed.”
