Labour Cabinet Secretary Phyllis Kandie has asked governors to pay doctors as directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta to avoid another strike by the medics.
"My appeal is that the governors should ensure doctors get their dues in good time before things worsen again," she said.
The CS was speaking at a prize giving ceremony at Kapropita Girls High School in Baring on Friday.
"You should not wait any longer to implement the appeal given by the head of state," urged Ms Kandie.
She also told public servants to get out from the anarchy of strikes and to embrace dialogue in accordance with the law while pushing for their industrial needs.
"Strike should be a thing of the past in addressing issues in a civilized Nation," she said.
On Friday, the Governors through their council insisted that they will not pay doctors who participated in the three months strike.
Council of Governors chairperson Peter Munya said paying them would be unfair to doctors who chose to serve.
About 3,000 doctors countrywide took part in the strike, but about 500 abandoned the strike and chose to work.
Munya said the CoG’s stand has not changed.
“I’ll not go to the Senate to answer questions why I paid people who did not work. That’s the stand of the CoG and we haven't met to review our stand,” he said in Meru, as quoted by the Star.
On Wednesday, Uhuru told governors to ensure that the medical officers are paid salaries for the days they were on strike.
