The Cabinet Secretary in charge of Environment and Natural Resources Prof. Judy Wakhungu has lauded the Supreme Court ruling that upheld President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election, arguing that it will pave the way for the nation to heal and go back to normalcy following the protracted court battle.
CS Wakhungu was speaking in Isiolo where she officially launched an aerial survey of elephants, buffaloes and Grevy’s Zebra in Marsabit, Isiolo, Samburu, Laikipia and Meru Ecosystem. She sent a congratulatory message to President Kenyatta and DP Ruto for the victory.
Former Isiolo County Women Rep who was recently appointed CEC in charge of Trade, tourism, cooperatives and enterprise development in Isiolo County Tiya Galgalo said that the Supreme Court decision would enable the president to embark on a mission to unite the already divided nation once he is sworn in.
She termed threats by a section of NASA leaders that they will also swear in Raila Odinga if President Kenyatta is sworn in for his second term as hot air. Ms Tiya commended the president and his deputy for their relentless efforts to solicit for votes since their first victory was nullified by Judge Maraga and Company.
Former Isiolo North MP aspirant Lucy Mworia also hit out at plans by some opposition chiefs to swear in Raila Odinga as president, adding that it was only geared towards causing violence for their own selfish gains. She said that the nation is now on a road to recovery following the bruising campaign period and the court battles that ensued.
