[PHOTO/mediamaxnetwork.co.ke]Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa will not contest for governorship in Nairobi or Trans Nzoia Counties in order to create time to rally the electorate to back the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto during the forthcoming general polls.
Speaking at Manani Primary School where he distributed CDF funds, Bumula MP Boniface Otsiula said that Wamalwa opted to shelve his governorship after consulting officials from both Bungoma and Trans Nzoia County.
The move by Wamalwa, who have also shown interest in the Nairobi governorship, to keep off the race to dethrone incumbent Governor Patrick Khaemba is likely to change the political situation of this part of the nation.
Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa had endorsed Khaemba for another term in office. According to Otsiula, Wamalwa will not contest in Nairobi or Trans Nzoia County.
“He will not be running for governor in either Nairobi or Trans Nzoia counties, but will instead support and campaign for Jubilee aspirants in the two counties and across the country,” he said, as quoted by Star.
Otsiula also said that President Uhuru Kenyatta cannot afford to lose CS Wamalwa since he is his 'eye' in the region.
