Njenga said the move, which was announced by National Treasury CS Henry Rotich will boost domestic tourism as many people will be able to afford the park entrance fees.

She was speaking at a luncheon at Courtyard in Nakuru after she hosted 47 Ms Tourism from all the counties where she lauded the government efforts in improving tourism in the area.

“Nakuru has many tourist attraction sites but there is poor turn up especially by locals as it is deemed expensive. We are however looking forward into registering double of the number of visitors in our national park with the reduction of the fees, “ she said.

“We have not encountered rowdy youths or destruction of property in the riots that have been rocking various parts of the country,” Njenga said.

the CS challenged Kenyans to take advantage of the offer, and enjoy internal tourism.

“We have Hells gate National park, Lake Nakuru National Park and Lonogot Parks which are the crème when it comes to the tourism industry,” she added.
