The Kisumu Community Support for Development (CSD Kisumu) has launched a voices of concern Cohesion, Integration and Human Rights Advocacy Campaign Kisumu West Chapter.

The Executive Director of CSD Dominic Odipo said the programme aims at calling on responsible leaders more so women and society to provide cohesion, integration and human rights atmosphere within the county both politically, economically and socially as the country heads to 2017 elections.

“We want to catalyze a unified society that has respect for human rights and development among the locals and Kenya as a whole as the country faces the 2017 general elections, “said Odipo.

He said they will continue to roll out the project in all the 35 wards within the county.

According to Esther Ombul the program coordinator, said they want to improve the understanding of Kisumu community more so women on the need of cohesion, integration and human rights protection.

“The projects objective is stopping the killings of Kenyans socially, politically and economically, “she said during the launch of the program on Wednesday.

She said they also want to come up with a legislation to cushion traders, community and other stakeholders in event of destruction or looting of properties or premises.

The coordinator said the project will enable the Kisumu community to be able to appreciate difference in political ideologies as a vital component of national development.

Ombul said by the end of the project, they expect that there will be more civic awareness created on the cohesion, integration and human rights.

“We want to acknowledge the contribution from Urgent Action Fund Africa and the National Cohesion Integration Commission amongst other stakeholders “said the coordinator.
