The Commission of University Education has raised concern over the upsurge in the number of college students being arrested on alleged suspicion of joining the Islamic State (Isis) and the Al Shabaab terror cells.
CUE now says at least 44 university students have boycotted their studies to join the Islamist terror groups including Isis in Central Africa and the Al Shabaab in Somalia nation.
"Worry is especially growing each day over the number of medical students who have been detained on alleged suspicion of belonging to terrorist groups," read a report from the CUE.
Just a week ago, US government froze the bank accounts belonging to Abduqadir Mumin, who it identified as the overseer of the Islamic State in East Africa region and also warned its citizens against transacting any business with him.
“Mumin, a former Al-Shabaab recruiter in East Africa and spokesman, pledges allegiance to Isis, along with 20 other of his followers,” said the US State Department.
