Road users using the Kisii-Mwembe road now want the county government to curb dropping and picking of passengers at the Christa-Mariane hospital junction which is just a few meters from town.
Public transport vehicles have turned the junction to a bus station causing traffic build up resulting in overlapping and others road offenses.
Earlier last year, Kisii county government had banned the picking of passengers from the point but it was never put into practice.
Late last month, a Probox lost control and landed into a drainage ditch as it tried to evade a parked matatu.
"This area is becoming dangerous now. The road is narrow yet the matatu makes it even more risky," a pedestrian said.
Availability of passengers, from the hospital, has favored the industry.
"We pick our passengers from this junction. I know it is dangerous but what should we do? The economy is bad. We take advantage of any change we get," a driver said.
Kisii is known to have a high number of road users who break the road rules especially the matatu industry who are prone to overloading and over speeding.
