Pollution is becoming a threat to our Kenyan soils. The government should do something under the NEMA offices to curb this menace! I happened to observe a dumping pit, in Mwembe estate -Kisii, of broken bottles which once held the 'precious' drink, alcohol. The NEMA offices should at least instruct all the brewing companies to use refillable alcohol bottles similar to the Coca-Cola industries and the Kenya Breweries Limited company. Their bottles will never be seen lying in the pits as they are recycled again and again. These bottle wastes mind you, are made of glass which poses a threat to life, more so the children who play around such area. Imagine your child having a deep cut from such a playing toy! The next step will be rushing to the hospital for a tetanus injection. This can be avoided if the county government, in conjunction with the national government curb the menace. Disposal rules should be made if the recycling deal hits the rock. Sometimes back, counterfeit second generation alcohol were being packed in bottles dumped in such a manner. This made it very easy for illegal brewers to pack their poisons! A law that controls this will save our environment.
