President Uhuru Kenyatta has maintained that the three-month dusk-to-dawn curfew in Lamu, Garissa and Tana River counties may be extended.

Uhuru noted the movement restrictions, will end when al Shabaab militants are wiped out since it is the only way to end deaths by terrorists.

"We cannot lift it and record deaths the following day," he said.

President Uhuru further added that he will send security agencies to hold meetings with villagers on how to concur the attackers.

"We must kill them until they return to where they came from. The state's first priority is the people's security," he said.

The curfew was effected following an attack in Jima and Poromoko villages.
