Operations at the Likoni ferry on Thursday morning went on smoothly, two days after congestion was witnessed at the channel.
Huge crowds was witnessed at the Likoni ferry crossing on Monday morning, after one of the ferries developed mechanical hitch.
Usually, there are four ferries at the Likoni channel - MV Nyayo, MV Jambo, MV Kilindini and MV Kwale.
Motorists lined up on both sides of the channel, awaiting to cross as residents lamented that they were running out of time, and accused the national government of incompetence.
"I am running late to work. I have waited here an hour yet I am not even close," said Jane, who was awaiting cross to Mombasa CBD.
The Kenya Ferry Services (KFS) had already cautioned that MV Jambo was out of operations."We are operating three ferries at the Likoni channel.
Jambo is out of operations for checks. kindly bear with us," said KFS.
However, on Thursday morning, four ferries were serving Mombasa residents at the Likoni channel and one ferry at the Mtongwe channel, during morning peak hours.
Both motorists and passengers crossed smoothly.
