Samuel Daddy Onyango scored to hand Ulinzi Stars the maximum points in a Kenya Premier League (KPL) match played against newcomers Kariobangi Sharks at the Kenyatta Stadium Machakos on Saturday.

The game began on a balanced note but Ulinzi were first to settle, commanding the possession in the midfield.

However, both sides were shy at goal and the match went to the breather on a goalless tie.

On resumption, Sharks came a rejuvinated side and constantly kept Ulinzi defender on toes but still no goal was witnessed.

It was the military side that rose to the occasion in the 63rd minute when Omar Mbongi made a long distance throw that was directed into the net by Onyango's header.

Even though this served as an awakening for Sharks, their constant attacks were thwarted by Ulinzi's back-line marshaled by Mohammed Omar to see the game head to the final whistle with Ulinzi leading 1-0.

The win ascends the soldiers to position 11 on the log with three points after one game while Sharks struggle at position 16 with zero points after three outings.
