Garissa Deputy Governor Abdi Dagane lauded Garissa residents for turning up in large numbers to stand in solidarity with Somalia following an attack in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Hundreds of Garissa residents last week donated blood for victims of the terror attack in Somalia that killed more than 300 people and injured another 500.
Speaking in Garissa town, Mr Dagane said Garissa County empathise with their brothers and sisters in Somalia adding that the incident should boost their resolve to fight terror through close coordination.
Mr Dagane who also condemned the attack said as a county, they deeply regret the loss of innocent lives and the needless pain and suffering inflicted on those who were injured.
“Somalia is bleeding from the recent heinous attack that cost many innocent lives. We grieve with them at this trying moment.”
“I recognize the team of volunteers from Garissa County especially our young people who with the help of Kenya Red Cross and other actors came out in large number to donate blood for the victims of the Mogadishu bomb attack,” said the deputy governor.
The donation drive which was spearheaded by the Red Cross Society of Kenya was held at the Garissa Primary School grounds and mainly targeted learning institutions, the business community and local residents.
