A petition filed by former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti challenging the re-election of Governor Alfred Mutua has overcome an important legal hurdle.
The High Court rejected an application by the governor to strike out Ndeti's petition, paving the way for an explosive legal showdown between the lawyers representing the two politicians.
Wavinya will be represented by lawyers Otiende Amollo, Daniel Maanzo, and Apollo Mboya while Mutua's lawyers include Kioko Kilukumi, Mohammed Nyaoga, Wilfred Nyamu and B. M Ongata.
Governor Mutua could appeal that ruling by the High Court of Machakos at the Court of Appeal.
