Speaking on Tuesday in Dagoretti, Kabogo said that the plan geared towards upgrading markets across the entire county to improve the standards in most of them.

“We are building an ultra-modern market. We have been seeing some projects worth Sh20 million but end up costing over Sh50 million. Mine is transparent and accountable and the works commence tomorrow (today),” he said.

The project, which is expected to be completed and launched on July 10, will be of benefit to hundreds of traders who use the market.

“I am glad as we have been wallowing in this muddy market for years. We are even looking forward to increased profits and booming business,” Hannah Wanjiru, a trader at the market said.

The project will also include construction of new drainage systems as well as upgrading the existing ones.

“You no longer have to do your business in the mud when it rains. We are therefore going to cement the floor so that the market will be the best place to carry out your business,” Kabogo assured traders.

Among other markets set to be upgraded include Githunguri and Karuri.
