Kikuyu dairy farmers yesterday took to the streets to protest the delay of their monthly pay.

The farmers who had carried banners saying that they have the right to be paid, said that they have the right to receive it this pay at the right time and in full

John Karagu a farmer in the area revealed that the chairman of the dairy board in the area who have been in office for ten years had refused to sign for the money to be released to the farmers. He said that the chairman was not doing the farmers any justice.

“The chairman has already received his salary and his children are in school while he has refused to sign for our pay slips for the products we have supplied to the dairy. Some of the parents here have their children at home due to the delay of the funds. He is doing us no justice at all. We will have to remove him from office of withdraw ourselves from the dairy,” Karagu explained

The farmers have not been paid despite having already taken milk to the dairy.
