With many artists in Kenya investing heavily in dance, the local entertainment scene has created a new appreciation for the art.
Dance has revolutionized the way the local entertainment perceives the art. While hits such as Nyashinski’s Malaika, Sanapei Tande’s Amina, don’t require much dance, club bangers weigh heavily on the dramatic effects that these dance masters employ.
For instance an award-winning dance crew FBI, whose fame grew since appearing on former gospel trio MOG’s Let Him Go hit and season three of Sakata Dance Competition, where they went on to win the national title.
The crew went on to earn recognition after getting nominated in Dance Ja Awards, in Jamaica as well as the Best International Dance Act, making them the first ever African outfit to be nominated. Two years back, the crew made history when they won Make The World Dance Competition, which was hosted in France. They battled it out with renowned dance crews from Europe, Greece, and Russia.
It is no doubt that local musicians have factored in the art of dancing in their music to counter the ever competitive industry and only time will tell when a new swag will definitely emerge.
