There was alarm surrounding the security of National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale after gunmen shot and injured his bodyguard, taking away his gun.
Constable Abdi Maalim was shot in the leg on Monday evening while on General Waruinge Road in Eastleigh after which the perpetrators made away into the Kiwanja Slums.
Duale has since confirmed the incident but said that Maalim is recuperating.
This however sent a negative image to the public concerning the security of the Garissa legislator, with some strongly feeling that the act endangered his life since his public profile commands that he receive maximum security that includes the services of Maalim.
Police have been asked to check whether the attack was meant to target Duale or if it was merely a random crime case.
