The allegations were made by some Daraja Mbili businessmen that their market land has been sold to a tycoon who wants to build on the market.

Speaking to journalist on Wednesday in Kisii town, Lumumba said public land cannot be sold to anyone since government handles all public lands. He dismissed allegations made that a section of the market land has been sold.

“Daraja Mbili market land has been fenced for the construction of the market and not for sale those alleging that the market has been sold give false information,” noted Lumumba.

“I want to assure Kisii county residents that Daraja Mbili market remains to be the government property and was fenced to allow the construction,” added Lumumba.

He called on businessmen to cooperate with the government to make the construction successful.
