Kisii County public health officer Mr Mellitus Kabar has threatened to shut down Daraja Mbili slaughter house because of the poor environment at the place.
According to him, the place is not good as per health standards since it is always dirty, there is no reliable drainage system from the slaughterhouse.
Addressing the press on Monday in Kisii town, Kabar said there is fear of an outbreak of various diseases more so those who eat the meat since most butcheries get their meat from the slaughter house.
“We have been warning those who slaughter cows at Daraja Mbili to make the place clean but it seems that they don’t want to follow health rules, now we are going to close the slaughterhouse to avert the outbreak of diseases,” said Kabar.
Kisii town residents should brace themselves to gramble with scarcity of meat if Kabar makes real his threat of closing the slaughter house at Daraja Mbili.
