Daring thieves in Nairobi stole a police car and later dumped it 20km away in Ruiru town.
According to the Standard, the gang took the car from outside a house in Zimmerman where an officer attached to the DCI headquarters had parked it on Sunday morning.
The officer was visiting a workmate in Zimmerman where he parked the car outside an apartment at around 5am.
When he went back for the car at 8am, he did not find it and immediately reported the matter.
After a whole day's search, a resident of Ruiru called at 6pm to inform the cops that a strange car had been parked outside his house.
When police rushed there, they found it to be the stolen one.
“We believe the thieves realized who the owner of the car was before they decided to leave it there,” a policeman at the scene said.
