Daystar University Vice-Chancellor Timothy Wachira has been sacked.
The move came after the administration received months of student complaints over misappropriation of funds.
The institution was also temporarily closed down after riots broke out in April this year, making it the first private university to shut down due to student unrest
According to a tweet from the Daystar University student body’s official account, the internal audit carried out has now seen the university’s most senior staff laid off over allegations of corruption and misuse of funds.
"Fellow students, Prof Timothy Wachira has officially been served with a letter terminating his contract. 3 other senior staff are to step aside in the next few days as part of the implementation of the report," the communique read in part.
It is hoped that with fresh leadership at the helm, the Christian university will restore the good name of the institution.
