Gicheru who was speaking on Wednesday in his Thika township office said that majority of the people involved in these heinous act were often there because of unemployment. He said that this still should be a reason to get involved in a criminal activity.

The DCC expressed his concerns with the increased number of disables in Thika town yet the majority were pretenders too lazy to work, having to resort to borrowing money in the streets of Thika town.

He said that some people had been pretending to be blind, crippled or even having some mysterious sicknesses. He said that they bore ill motives and that soon he will launch a crackdown to bring those liars and criminals to book.

“Some of these people are mostly left on the streets of Thika town by their friends and relatives where they beg for money the whole day before they retire to their homes in the evening and they have no disability,” noted Gicheru.

He further urged the public to give tip offs to the police and the Nyumba Kumi officials who would help him tame the upcoming criminals who were stealing from the residents.

“We are going to deal with these people as they end up conning innocent residents. I sound a warning to anyone with such a character to seize as we will prosecute anyone caught. We need to unite through these initiatives and fight out the criminals in this area. These are the people that should be ousted from this area because we need peace in the area,” he added.
