Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga has been urged to de-whip party officials from Kisii County who were reportedly working closely with Jubilee government or risk losing the vote-rich region to Jubilee government.
Party County Chairman Chris Obure and Organising Secretary Joash Maangi have been closely working with the government but remained defiant on calls to resign, insisting that they were free to talk to their rivals in politics on matters development.
But former Majority leader Protus Moindi believes that the two would do more harm to the party by exposing it and also by derailing in making key party decisions ahead of 2017 elections.
“Raila should address this matter once and for all because the rebels are making the running of party affairs very difficult. There is no more evidence we can give about their loyalty because they have been doing all this in public,” he said.
Moindi added: “Their continued holding of key party positions is detrimental in terms of early preparations for 2017 polls. We are unable to make key decisions just because a few rebels are holding us at ransom since they still sit in key party committee. Time has come to kick them out”.
On Monday, both Obure and Maangi were ‘ousted’ from their positions by former Kisii Mayor Samuel Omwoyo, a coup that has since been dismissed by Obure as ‘small matter’.
