The nine-year-old boy found dead in a car in Bungoma was likely bludgeoned to death, postmortem results have shown.
The boy had severe injuries in the stomach, chest and head that were probably caused using a blunt object, said a medic privy to the postmortem.
Police have said they are still pursuing murder charges and have put in detention the boy’s mother and her lover.
The body of the child was found in the man’s car and he was initially thought to have suffocated after he was left in the locked vehicle for a long duration.
Police however moved to court on the strength of the post-mortem findings and requested to hold the two in custody.
