A slaughter house in Kisii has been closed for three days to give room for cleanliness and renovation after a dead cow was found in the slaughterhouse on Monday evening.
According to Kisii Public Health Officer Dr Melitas Kabar, they have been forced to order for the closure of the slaughterhouse and launched investigation .
”We have come to the conclusion of the closure of Kisii slaughterhouse for three days in which cleanliness is going to be done and renovation as a way of improving the services,” said Kabar.
This raised questions from residents on the meat they get from the slaughter house which serves almost the whole county.
Dr Kabar also said that they are looking for the owner of the cow who is said to have brought the cow without the knowledge of the leadership of the slaughter house.
He added that they have ordered a veterinary to take samples of the dead cow's meat to Kericho for testing .
“The person who brought the dead cow is yet to be identified but investigations have been launched,“ noted Dr Kabar
Residents have been raising alarm before concerning the services of the slaughter house but were allegedly looked down upon until the incident.
