[Photo/File]Just days after reports of a deadly gang terrorizing residents of Muchatha in Kiambaa constituency of Kiambu County who have been attacking residents using crude, poisonous weapons, Thika community policing department has reported similar incidents. The Thika West sub-county community policing chairman, Ezekiel Karanja said he has received several reports from his Nyumba Kumi associates as well as community policing members and residents who have been stabbed by the gang.Ezekiel said the gangs going by the names Ndunyuini and Gaza operating mainly in Kiganjo and Makongeni have stabbed several residents and stolen their belongings.“Some of these criminals come from areas away from Thika to terrorise locals. Our residents are living in fear of being attacked. There is a likelihood that the same goons that have been terrifying Muchatha village inhabitants have regrouped,” he said. Most of those affected by the criminal incidents are women who he said have lost handbags and valuables.Karanja speaking to the media Thursday urged Thika residents to be more vigilant and avoid using shortcuts, especially at night.Earlier, on Tuesday during Jamhuri day celebrations at Thika Stadium, Thika West DCC, Tom Anjere said his security team was working around the clock to provide 24/7 patrols.Anjere urged residents to lock their houses and report to neighbors their departure to various areas across the country during the festive season.Anjere said that officers operating in Thika will not go on leave until after the Christmas festivities so as to provide all-time security to residents and their property.Thika has been hit by incidents of insecurity the recent one being that of a taxi driver who was killed few meters from his house by unknown people two weeks ago.Another incident is that of a business man who was shot dead at his entrance in Makongeni less than a month ago.
