The Sunday morning crash at the notorious Migaa area which claimed more than 35 lives seems to have caught Nakuru leaders totally off guard.
When a similar accident happened at the area on Jamhuri day, Nakuru leaders led by Governor Lee Kinyanjui and Molo MP Kuria Kimani rushed to the scene.
They assured residents and the nation that enough is enough and they would ensure that no.more accidents occured along the route which has now claimed close to a hundred lives in the month.of December alone.
It is not clear what happened after as another grisly accident claimed such many lives less than 20 days after the leaders assurances.
By Sunday 10 am, seven hours after the crash occurred, no leader had up dated their official social accounts over the accident or even sent condolences.
This is in contrast past incidents where Governor Lee, Senator Kihika among others, send their condolences immediately.
"Our leaders must be ashamed that they promised no more deaths yet we woke up to gruesome murder of innocent travellers," Eric Ndung'u posted on Facebook.
The first condolence to be sent and updated on social media was by Nakuru Deputy Governor Dr. Eric Korir which was done at 10: 13 am.
After the Jamhuri day accident where more than 20 lives were lost after a multiple cars crash, Kihika promised to end carnage at the.spot.
"As the Senator of Nakuru County and having taken up the campaign to #EndSalgaaAccidents, I will petition the Senate Committee of Roads and Transport to summon the NTSA management to review, interrogate and Audit its activities with a view to recommend its restructuring, change of its leadership among other changes to ensure safer roads," she posted on her official facebook page.
After the Sunday accident, residents urged Nakuru leaders to push the national government and solve the 'Salgaa puzzle'.
"These accidents are not normal. What are out Nakuru leaders doing?" Evewangary Karanu posted
