Mandera senator Billow Kerrow has asked the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to deal ruthlessly with politicians spewing hatred and incitement.
Addressing supporters in Mandera Town on Sunday, Kerrow asked the Francis ole Kaparo led commission not to be intimidated by politicians and rather do its work.
He said that some politicians spewing hatred, threating the country’s peace and security ahead of the August 8 general election.
“NCIC should boldly and firmly deal with perpetrators of hate speech and incitement for the country to hold peaceful August 8 polls,” he said as quoted by the Daily Nation.
He said that rogue politicians who don’t value peace should be condemned and dealt with according to the law.
Kerrow asked Kenyans to reject inciters and embrace unity ahead of the general election.
Last week police arrested Suna East MP Junet Mohamed over incitement. The ODM director of Elections was charged and released on bond.
Laikipia North MP Mathew Lempurkel was also arrested by police over alleged incitement and is expected to be charged in court on Monday.
The NCIC says it will not tolerate inciters and hate mongers as political campaigns enters homestretch in readiness for the August 8 polls.
