NASA leader Raila Odinga will not be allowed to swear himself in, a Cabinet Secretary has said.
Speaking during a function in Kericho County, Energy and Petroleum CS Charles Keter said the government will thwart plans by Raila to the take oath of office on December 12, as the country celebrates 53rd Jamhuri Day.
"The swearing-in ceremony ended on November 28. We will not allow any parallel event to be held on Kenyan soil," Keter stated on Saturday at Kipkelion.
The CS said President Uhuru Kenyatta, after his inauguration last week, should now firmly deal with NASA leaders, who he accused of a plan to destabilise the country.
"Recently you were president-elect now you are the President. Deal ruthlessly with them. Do not have mercy on people out to cause chaos in Kenya," Keter added.
His remarks come as Raila maintained he would not recognise 'illegitimate and murderous regime' of Uhuru.
On Saturday, he reiterated plans to swear him in as the 'people's president' were on course.
"Arrangements for the swearing-in ceremony are complete. I am just waiting for a report from the seven-member committee," the former Prime Minister said during a burial in Ugunja, Siaya County.
