The doctor's strike is now entering the 50th plus day. The government's position seems to be fixed while that of the doctors remains that no resuming duty until the 2013 CBA is implemented.
Well, they say when two elephants fight it's the grass that gets hurt. Forget the Cancer patients missing their chemo and radiotherapy sessions, other Kenyans continue losing their life's as thousands of patients groan in pain.
The government has so far declined to recognize the 2013 CBA that was signed by a team led by the former Finance Minister and now president Uhuru Kenyatta.
Doctor's decry dishonesty on the part of the government. So far, not even the senate or the commission of administrative Justice has offered to mediate between the government and the doctors, only the clergy.
It surely can't get any worse, life should not be lost anymore. Let the warring parties drop their hard-line positions and settle on a middle ground for the sake of Wanjiku.
Fiscally speaking, 300% is unrealistic and can't be achieved in one financial year. The doctors can settle on 40-50% salary increase for a start and adopt a return to work formula.
I can't imagine the pain that over 100 families that lost their loved ones due to the doctor's strike are going through, while we all look at our own interests, lets not forget the interest of Wanjiku.
Well, in future we should find a way where the political class seeks treatment locally maybe when we have a situation such as the strike they shall find a way of quickly resolving it.
