Mother of a 12-year-old boy who passed on three months after a medical operation says she was kept in the dark over her son’s condition.

Bophine Ochieng died at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) on March 25 awaiting treatment after doctors at Oasis Doctors Plaza clinic in Migori conducted a surgery on his left thigh in early October 2016.

Deepening the puzzle is the fact that the clinic's management claimed they had not conducted the surgery although Otacho School director and the boy's mother insist that the operation was carried out at the clinic.

According to the Standard, 36-year-old Hellen Atieno learnt of her son's operation two weeks later after a friend revealed it to her.

“The surgery was conducted without my consent. And I was not informed about his illness or what prompted the operation. I only learnt about it from one of his teachers,” the single mother of two says as quoted by the publication.

Ochieng, who is a celebrated footballer as well as film actor in Kibera, had been transferred to the Otacho Good Hope School in July 2016 after a sponsor was secured for him.

However, the mother says she was informed of the transfer decision much late, adding that she never met the said sponsor of her son.

He joined the school in Standard Seven in July, 2016.

Mandanyi and Atieno took the boy to Migori, instructing the school not to allow anyone else to visit the boy except  the two of them.

However, it remains unclear how Mandanyi’s son later paid him a visit, which was followed by another visit by a man named Omino who pupported to be a relative and even managed to take him out of the school to share refreshments.

Otacho School director Nashon Otiato revealed that Omino, under strict instructions from Nairobi, went with a teacher to the clinic and found out that the boy was suffering from arthritis.

Just days before developing the complications, it is alleged that Adoli visited the boy and even shared a meal.

However, Adoli however claims he is being targeted unfairly.

Mandanyi has also been accused of frustrating the mother's efforts to see the boy.

When contacted for comment, Mandanyi said denied to offer a comment.

"I can’t say anything. You can go to CID or Kilimani Police if you wish,” the story further quotes him.

Similarly, relatives have also raised their concern over Kenyatta Hospital’s delaying the postmortem and said that this has been dragging for over a week.
