It is reported that the former Nominated Councillor collapsed and died on Monday, two days after the burial of his father.

According to his brother Muasya Ngala, the deceased had complained of severe headache and breathing difficulties while in the middle of a family meeting before he left for his home.

The suffering continued and he was taken to Neema Hospital where the nurses pronounced him dead on arrival.

“He told us he’s feeling unwell and wants to rest and we excused him to go to his home not far away from dad’s place. We were called moments later and asked to quickly rush to the hospital where we found he was already gone,” Mr Muasya said.

Police officers took the body to Kitui Level Four Hospital and Kitui Central OCPD Kennedy Onsando said they were treating the case as sudden death pending a postmortem report.

Ngala Mwendwa was a renowned leader who served as cabinet minister in Kenya’s first post-independence cabinet.
