A court ruling to award Starehe MP Charles Kanyi Njagua's father Ksh672,000 has been objected.
David Kanyi had been awarded the cash as apart of the general damages and medical expenses after he fell in a manhole in Nyeri.
The plaintiff has accused the Nyeri Water and Sewerage Company Limited (NYEWASCO) of leaving the manhole neglected and unmarked.
After the fall, Kanyi sustained injuries which led to his hospitalization.
Senior Resident Magistrate Philip Mutua awarded Kanyi Sh550,000 as general damages and Ksh25,000 for medical expenses.
However, NYEWASCO has objected the ruling on the grounds that the amount quoted is exobitant.
Jaguar's father broke his leg as a result of the fall in the two-foot manhole.
The company was also ordered to pay the cost of the suit. “The court erred in law and facts in awarding general and special damages that are exorbitant and contrary to the nature of the injuries sustained,” Nyewasco said through lawyer G K Kibira.
