resident Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto have turned to putting Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga, challenging him to state whether he will accept poll results if he loses in August.
Uhuru and Ruto, who spoke on Wednesday during a campaign rally, said Odinga should assure Kenyans that he will concede defeat if the results do not favour him.
President Kenyatta said early this month that he will honorably concede defeat if he loses.
During their tour of Murang’a on Wednesday, the president warned the opposition coalition that they should not drag the military into election rigging claims.
This comes a day after Odinga said there was a wider plan by the Jubilee Party to involve top security organs in the country to ensure Jubilee remains in power despite the outcome of the August elections.
“Mr Odinga is a specialist in dividing Kenyans. We want a united Kenya unlike what he is advocating. No genuine leader can stand in front of Kenyans and claim that some people should leave a certain area,” said the President.
“Do you want to be the President of Kenya or president of a few tribes of 10 million Kenyans?” further asked President Kenyatta.
Just like other visits to different areas, this was also characterized with battles between Jubilee Party candidates and their independent counterparts.
