Tourism Cabinet Secretary Najib Balala has given a new order to the IEBC. Balala has ordered IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati to declare Uhuru the winner of the repeat presidential election.
Balala while speaking in Mombasa alongside other Jubilee leaders said time for politics was over and Kenyans at the Coast should now shift to socio-economic development. "We know Uhuru got 7.5 million votes...We want the IEBC to declare Uhuru as president." Balala said Balala was accompanied by former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar, Hussein Shahbal and former Kilifi Gubernatorial aspirant Gideon Mung'aro . Balala had earlier said that action shall be taken on over 40 Jubilee party agents in Mombasa who failed to turn up at the polling stations on election day. “The agents did not show up in a few polling stations. This is a problem of dishonesty. But we are going to take legal action against the agents who did not show up. I want to warn them that as Jubilee Party, we are going to deal with them,” he stated. Voter turnout was low at the Coast after Odinga's supporters who are the most in the region heeded to his call to boycott elections.
