A section of leaders from Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC) have warned that there should be not talks on 2022 general elections just yet.
Led by Senators Cleophas Malala (Kakamega), George Khaniri (Vihiga) and Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi, the lawmakers warned that they would not support 2022 politics yet their NASA coalition was yet to sort out issues of electoral and judiciary injustices that were witnessed in the 2017 general elections.
"We have a bigger fight to battle right now. That fight is the fight against electoral injustices, the fight against police brutality, the fight to strengthen the institutions of the constitutional commissions, the fight to strengthen judiciary and that's our focus," Malala said on Saturday.
Addressing the press after a meeting with Cotu Secretary-General Francis Atwoli at his Khwisero home, Malala noted that they would not be derailed by allegations that the three were disrespecting some NASA leaders.
"We have agreed with one voice that we will not say anything about 2022 before finalizing issues of 2017. You can't prepare for a wedding in 2022 when your bride died in 2017. We must sort out these issues now," he added.
