An angry Kitutu Chache North Mp Jimmy Angwenyi has defended his position that the Abagusii community will support Jubilee government in 2017 elections.
This comes few days after two senior politicians demanded that he apologises for imposing himself as the community spokesperson.
Angwenyi had told a gathering at Bonchari that the community had agreed to support Jubilee government, remarks that elicited a sharp reaction from veteran politicians Abuya Abuya and Joseph Kiangoi.
Speaking on Tuesday evening at Kisii Hotel, Angwenyi accused the two politicians of ‘ignorance’ arguing that their time in politics had elapsed.
“I am shocked that these two people (Kiangoi and Abuya) can label me an imposter when I speak on behalf of the community," said Angwenyi.
"They are ignorant in political dynamics and it’s my wish that they quit politics,” he said.
“Their time in politics ended long time ago. Let them respect the decision of Gusii people or face our wrath,: said Angwenyi.
"People have decided to be in Jubilee and if they want to challenge that decision, let them join the other losing camp,” he said.
Angwenyi emphasised that Cord coalition had lost grip in Gusii land arguing that area residents were tired of political rhetoric.
“I know Cord beat my camp in the last elections but as Jubilee, we have gained significantly," said the Legislator.
"Our community is tired of political rhetoric and we have decided to join the government which is determined to improve the livelihoods of its people,” he added.
“I will not apologise for communicating the voice of the majority. Gusii region will vote Jubilee and those two old guards can take that to the bank,” he said.
Deputy President William Ruto had attended the Bonchari function on Sunday, an event where Angwenyi declared the support of Gusii people to the Jubilee government.
