Nyamira residents trolled the two-term legislator on various social media forums in the county moments after he officially declared his gubernatorial bid on Saturday with a number of them accusing him of greediness.

But in a quick rejoinder, Gesami on Monday insisted that his entrance to Nyamira race was timely saying his constituency record could easily be manifested in the county if he gets elected.

“I am shocked why people are getting scared when I join an open race. I basically have a track record in West Mugirango and I believe if elected, I can be able to transform Nyamira County social-economically,” Gesami said.

“I am a resident of this county and the constitution allows me to contest for any seat. I was duly guided before joining this race and those opposing my candidature should face me in the ballot rather than engaging in character assassination,” he said.

He termed the incumbent John Nyagarama a ‘trusted’ failure and challenged county residents to join his camp for the sake of promoting development.

“Nyagarama is a trusted failure because his record speaks for itself. Some of my other competitors are a questionable history and I believe they are not ideal for our county. It’s my wish that residents will join my camp to pursue a genuine social-economic development,” he said.

Also in the gubernatorial race are Mr. Charles Mochama, and former Kitutu Masaba MPs Walter Nyambati and Mwancha Okioma.
