Members of County Assembly in Kilifi have dealt Governor Amason Kingi a major blow.
This is after they rejected a list of County Chief Officers (COs) appointed by the two-time governor.
The MCAs passed a motion revoking the appointment of five COs that the governor had reappointed, accusing him of appointing the five, without vetting and approval by the County Assembly.
The five affected COs include; Kenneth Kazungu (Roads), Adan Mohammed (Devolution), Joseph Nguzo (Lands), Patience Tsimba (Trade) and Kombe Ngari (Water).
While tabling the motion, the Watamu ward MCA George Baya cited Section 4 of the Public Appointments (County Assemblies Approval) Act 2017, saying any appointments by county governor need to be approved by the County Assembly.
