Opposition leader Raila Odinga has yet again differed sharply with his wife, Ida Odinga, over voting dynamics in the Luo Nyanza home turf.

While Ida is advocating for freedom of choice from the variety of the contestants, Odinga is rooting for infamous six piece voting methodology.

At Homabay, a region considered to be ODM stronghold, Odinga warned that he may fall short of foot soldiers if Independent candidates carry the day.

“My good people, it will be useless to elect me without equally extending favours to my foot soldiers,” he said adding that majority in parliament will ensure smooth running of government.

He further said: “They will ensure there is smooth running of legislative assemblies both at national and county levels.”

When leading campaigns in Nyanza last month, Ida urged Kisumu locals to choose candidates of their choice and warned politicians against limiting locals’ freedom of choosing leaders.

The conflict of interest is precipitated by emergence of Independent candidates, most of whom are casualties of skewed ODM party primaries in the Nyanzan region.
