Raila Odinga maintains that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s term expired on August 8 and that he only remains in office on a ceremonial capacity.

For a number of times, Uhuru has maintained that he is constitutionally in office and would continue exercising his authority.

In an interview with NTV, Odinga said Uhuru was a lame duck president adding that the constitution denies his executive authority.

“Uhuru’s term expired in August and I don’t know what law he is referring to. He should go back to the constitution and get facts,” he said.

The ODM leader added:”He cannot declare war, peace or sign bills. He is just there and can do nothing. Those are bitter facts.”

Undoubtedly the most influential politicians in the country, the two will meet for the third time in less than five years in another epic battle.

IEBC has set October 17th as the date for repeat elections following nullification of Uhuru’s victory by the Supreme Court.
