Opposition leader Raila Odinga now wants electoral body IEBC and rival Jubilee party to accept his demands of dropping French IT Company OT – Morpho ahead of October pools.
Should the company be allowed to transmit results, he says, similar ‘fraud’ will take place thus prejudicing the will of Kenyans.
“In want to challenge Jubilee and IEBC to accept that we cannot go for an election with OT – Morpho. That is the basic condition and it must be adhered to,” he said.
“We want a level playing field and that cannot be realized with such a company. We do not want also Al Ghurair to print papers. If they have nothing to hide, then I wonder why they fear,” added Odinga.
Both companies are at center of controversy over the August 8 presidential elections with them opposition accusing them of conspiring with IEBC and Jubilee to rig in favour of Uhuru Kenyatta.
Already, Odinga has written a letter to French government to open prosecutions on the IT Company, which has periodically dismissed allegations of hacking of results during transmission.
To make transmission of results transparent, he says, IEBC should look for a neutral company that will work with local experts drawn from either side of political divide.
