Contrary to media reports, nominated senator Elizabeth Ongoro has sensationally denied claims that she has ditched ODM party following the decision by the disciplinary committee to lock her out of Ruaraka parliamentary race.

The former Kasarani MP was barred from challenging T.J Kajwang on grounds that she had caused violence but was given an option of running for Women Representative or Nairobi senator seats.

But a visibly agitated Ongoro stormed Orange House in company of her supporters and accused National Election Board members of allegedly ‘sabotaging’ free and fair contest in primaries.

“I have been out of the country and I hear that some people are saying that I defected. I am here to stay and those causing havoc must be ready for primaries.

“I sacrificed senatorial ambitions in 2013 over regional balance and that is likely to be the case this year. I am in Ruaraka race to stay and will contest on a NASA ticket,” said Ongoro, whose candidature with that of Mr. Kajwang could scuttle opposition’s plan.

Ongoro bowed out of senatorial race in 2013 after being prevailed upon by party leadership over regional balance hence opting to go for Ruaraka seat.

However, Ms. Ongoro and Kajwang understandably met party leader Raila Odinga later on at Capitol Hill although details of the meeting are yet to be disclosed.
