Kisii Gubernatorial contest has taken a new shape after incumbent James Ongwae took campaigns to his main opponent Chris Obure’s backyard challenging him to withdraw his candidature.
The two leaders are engaged in fierce campaigns with the former banking on the Orange Democratic Movement’s solid support from the region while the latter remaining in Jubilee Party which is making inroads.
Speaking at Nyacheki in Bobasi constituency, Ongwae defended his track record and dismissed opponents as ‘envious’ urging them to join his team to develop Gusii.
“I have been coming here and now I am around first to remind you that the ODM party is doing its best to boost livelihoods of people. It cannot go without mentioning that some people who are opposing me are doing it just out of envy,” he said.
“I humbly request the Senator to join my team and uplift the living standards of our people. We have been working together well and if they cannot listen, then I am sure that the people of Nyacheki will stand by me to complete development projects which are ongoing,” he said.
The Kisii County boss was accompanied by a whopping 54 MCAs out of the possible 72 and threw their support behind ODM aspirant Naphtali Onkoba ahead of October 26th polls.
