Mrs Otara has been facing criticism from a section of ODM supporters who have been associating her with ODM defectors Richard Onyonka, Chris Obure and Joash Maangi who have been campaigning for the President’s party.

Speaking on Thursday, barely a day before opposition leader Raila Odinga visits the region; Otara took her opponents head on in the ongoing Nyacheki by-election campaigns insisting that she is a live member of ODM.

“I have heard people peddling rumors that I am not in ODM and today I have come here to shame the devil. I am a loyal member of the party and even unborn children know that,” she said when campaigning for ODM candidate Naphtali Onkoba.

Otara added:” I am ready to face my critics and those who think they are more ODM than I should check the party activities and compare. I won’t be shaken by anyone and that is a reality.”

The first Kisii County Women Representative is expected to face a fierce battle from former ODM Chief Executive and nominated Senator Janet Ong’era who has expressed her interest in the seat.
